A book we designed for Nina Rappaport that looks at approaches to integrating factories into urban areas. The collected essays address topics ranging from sustainability, planning, equity, and emerging technologies, to mapping the city through smell. The book is structured in three sections—Hybrid Factory, Hybrid City, and Future Visions—for which we designed divider pages with schematic scenes evocative of the isotype data visualizations of Otto and Marie Neurath. This drawing style was carried onto the cover and back cover.

We paired a strong serif font with a chunky sans to create a clean, bold structure to support the disparate content from the collected authors.

It’s always a fun time when you can integrate the barcode into the illustration.
