Website for the Japanese font foundry Morisawa to showcase a font designed by Matthew Carter. We worked with Morisawa previously on the design of five specimen booklets that introduced the font, Role, and were happy to get to work with everyone again on the website. Role is a super family—comprised of four styles each with three optical weights (text, display, and banner) and then with seven to eight more thicknesses. The website introduces the four main fonts—Serif, Sans, Slab, and Soft—and highlights certain weights within each. It was also a great way to use the photos that we commissioned for the booklets. Each photo shows a composition of the fonts in use.
